Summary
The shift vector of a warp geometry, in red. At the edges there is no shift. At the center (inside the warp bubble) there is a region of uniform shift so that at a later time the inside of the warp bubble is rigidly translated to different spatial coordinates (in blue). The two foliations remain the same distance apart, because warp drives maintain a unit lapse function.
